Tel Aviv is a city that never sleeps, where Israelis love to live and tourists can’t stop visiting, where life is celebrated freely at anytime. The year had barely time to begin before someone devastated our city. Just as it was in Paris last November, on January 1st it was in Tel Aviv, at a terrace on Dizengoff Street, a islamic terrorist started shooting cold blooded. Tel Aviv feels knocked out and desperately sad but nothing will tear her down enough to prevent her to pay tribute to the victims and tell terrorists: you will never win.

While the terrorist is still out, the messages popped out by millions this weekend on social networks to honor and pay tribute the victims of the attacks at the Simta Bar: Alon Bakal and Shimon Ruimi.

The first one was the manage of the bar, the second one came to celebrate a friend’s birthday, they were both shamefully assassinated by a terrorist who started shooting with a gun towards this very popular place.

Just as it was when the Paris attacks occurred last November, thousands of people showed their solidarity on social networks. #IamTelAviv popped up in French, in Hebrew and in English, to remind us that whether barbarism happens in Pars, Tel Aviv or New York, it is the same.

The mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai, illuminated the building of the city hall with the Israeli flag to show is support to the families of the victims and to tell the terrorists that the Non Stop City will never change.

Saturday night, hundreds of Israelis came one after the others in front of the Simta Bar, where you could still see the bullet holes and paid tribute to victims by lightning candles.

Alon and Shimon (ז״ל) you left us, your lives were taken by barbarism, but you have to know that you will be in our hearts and lives for ever. May your memory be blessed.
