TLV has been waiting 10 years for it to happen: the new Moniot Sherut lines should finally be launched next June. These small yellow buses going around town are part of a special plan developed by the Mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldaï, to improve the overall public transportation system.

You raise your hand. The nahag (driver) stops. You enter trying not to bump your head on the ceiling while he opens the door with his secret move. Sherut are community cabs inherited from the communist culture that used to dominate in the country during the ‘60s. Since then, they have become the most common way to get around town.

Some changes are abound next June with the launch of 9 new lines to make it even easier to travel in town. This project is being evaluated by the Municipality of Tel Aviv and the government in order to improve the public transportation system in the city.

The new lines will give better access to close suburbs of Tel Aviv and the main medical centers.
