Flights between Tel Aviv and Morocco are about to start (Ynet)

Yes! This news makes our passport happy. Starting in May, there will be direct flights from Israel to Morocco. A weekly bond will be launched by the Israeli tour operator Flying carpet, linking Tel Aviv, Casablanca and Marrakech.

This is quiet surprising since the two countries have no diplomatic relations and no air agreement. In order to make this happen without the agreement, the Israeli tour operator, Flying Carpet asked the Italian company Neos to handle the trips. Flights will leave from Tel Aviv, will stop for a short time in Catania, Sicily, before taking off again to Casablanca or Marrakech. Passengers will receive new tickets in Italy but won’t have to change planes, which make it a “direct” trip.

The flights are going to start in May with a test period of 2 months. The trips will alternate, one week to Casablanca, the next one to Marrakech, this will allow tourists to start their journey in one city and finish in the other. If the results are positive, the Israeli tour operator might reinforce their offer to Morocco and make both Casablanca and Marrakech part of their regular destinations.
