AutoTel: how will the cars of the first car sharing service of the municipality look like?

The mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai, has just, officially launched the implementation phase of the municipal car service of Tel Aviv, AutoTel. He unveiled the car that will be used by the city, the Hyundai i10, and the proceeding steps until the launch of the project that will change transportation in the Non Stop City.

Beginning in March, around one hundred people will be able to start using this service during a test period, and in October 2017 this service will be accessible to every citizen of Tel Aviv. The subscribers will be able to book a car 15 minutes in advance or take one when they need thanks to a very simple booking app. We’ll be able to park the cars on specific reserved spots or on any regular ones, with blue and white stripes in Tel Aviv.

The estimated cost of the monthly subscription will be 50₪/month flat fee, plus the usage cost per minute. The city assures that the final price of a ride will be between the cost of a bus ticket and a cab ride.

If this program is successful during the initial years, the city is planning on adding electric cars and scooters to the AutoTel service.
